BOOK REVIEW #1: ALL I REALLY NEED TO KNOW, I LEARNED IN KINDERGARTEN

DSC02772

Reading is a great way to learn a language, and this is one of my favorite books.  The stories are short but heartwarming.  I love to share this book with my students who are looking for a little more confidence in their English.  Without fail they return to share how true they find the short stories to be.

In a nutshell, the stories all center around things that all of us learned as young children learn in our first year of school.  Be kind.  Share.  Show some compassion.  Treat others in a way that you would like to be treated.  Do what you know is right.   The author pulls all of these lessons from humorous or touching situations which he has experienced in his own life.  The storytelling style is charming and familiar because his choice of vocabulary is cleaver, interesting, and amusing without being overly difficult.

Over the years, I have read this book twice.  These days I get to enjoy the stories in a new way as read it aloud for my students.  The stories are timeless.  I laugh and cry all over again every time I read a new story.  I really do love and recommend this book!
